New Jersey AFL-CIO: Working People Needed A Victory And Labor Delivered
By Doug Cunningham
The New Jersey AFL-CIO says the election of Phil Murphy as Governor and Sheila Oliver as Lt. Governor “speaks to the unmatched mobilization efforts of organized labor and the New Jersey AFL-CIO’s political program that is unparalleled by any other in our state or nation.” That effort included thousands of union volunteers, national, state and local affiliates, Central Labor Councils and Building Trades Councils. Phone banks were activated and thousands of mail pieces delivered statewide.
In addition to the Governor and Lt. Governor, labor in New Jersey also expanded pro-labor majorities in the state legislature.
Forty-three rank and file union members running for office won their elections.
New Jersey’s AFL-CIO says working people needed a victory and organized labor delivered.
