Public Citizen: Trump’s HHS Nominee “Star” Oversaw 345% Prescription Drug Hike
By Doug Cunningham
Public Citizen says Trump’s nomination of big pharma executive Alex Azar as the next Secretary of Health and Human Services shows Trump isn’t serious about reigning in high prescription drug prices.
Trump claims this guy Azar would be a “star” who will lower prescription drug prices.
But Azar was President Eli Lilly USA. Public Citizen says under Azar’s watch six million diabetic Americans had their insulin prices more than tripled by Eli Lilly. Public Citizen says the price of Humalog went up 345 percent.
And now Trump wants the guy who presided over that huge price spike for a life-saving medicine to be in charge of U.S. Health and Human Services.
Public Citizen says if Azar is confirmed “then Big Pharma’s coup d’etat in the health care sphere will be virtually complete.”
